LABOR CALLS ON NBNCO TO RELEASE FLAT ACCESS PRICE MODELLING

Evidence today from NBNCo underscores the very serious concerns held about the latest pricing review.

Under sustained questioning by Labor Senators, NBNCo executives made the bewildering admission they have, at no point, provided flat access price modelling to retail service providers.

This admission indicates NBNCo’s latest pricing review is not a consultation, but a process designed to obfuscate and essentially go nowhere.

Labor urges NBNCo to release this modelling so there can be a genuine assessment of the merits and trade-offs of different pricing structures.

Retail service providers have said they will soon be forced to increase retail prices on households and families.

A potentially more pragmatic balance on improving pricing certainty and reducing complexity cannot be explored if NBNCo continues to hide its modelling.

This practice of having pricing consultation processes, with nothing meaningful to consult on, is no longer sustainable.
