Liberal Senator Cory Bernardi has been at it again today denigrating Australia’s rich diversity and the valuable role multiculturalism has played in shaping our nation.

As reported by Fairfax Media, Senator Bernardi voiced disdain for multiculturalism saying “we are now seeing the negative consequences of this social experiment.”

These comments show that Senator Bernardi is desperately out of touch.

These views – and the people who promote them – belong in the last century. They do not reflect modern Australia.

Multiculturalism is an overwhelmingly positive feature of Australian society and is responsible for strengthening and enriching our way of life.

These are divisive comments that have the potential to damage our social cohesion.

We should be doing all we can right now to promote community harmony. Senator Bernardi is doing the opposite.

It’s time for Senator Bernardi to update his archaic views on multiculturalism.
