The Liberal Government’s multicultural policy is in disarray after an embarrassing Senate Estimates hearing last night revealed the Government is still relying on Labor’s multicultural policy and is not even in the process of developing its own - despite previously saying it was.
In answer to questions during Estimates last year, the Department of Social Services said:
The Government is currently in the process of developing an updated Multicultural Affairs policy.
But officials from the Department admitted last night that not only was no such policy in the process of being developed, the Government had still not made up its mind about whether or not to update the policy:
That’s still being considered by the Government at this stage.

After nearly 18 months in office, the Liberal Government is still relying on Labor’s multiculturalism policy and it is still the only policy available on the Department of Social Services website.
This again shows you cannot trust anything this Government says and that it does not take multiculturalism seriously.
