MEDIA RELEASE - LUCK OF THE DRAW NBN FOR SUNNYBANK HILLS - 13 JULY 2017

13 July 2017

With Graham Perrett MP, Federal Member for Moreton.

Local MP Graham Perrett invited Shadow Communications Minister Michelle Rowland MP to Sunnybank Hills to discuss the frustrations of businesses stuck with Malcolm Turnbull’s second-rate NBN.

In Sunnybank Hills, residents and businesses have been lumped with a multi-technology mess under Malcolm Turnbull’s second rate NBN plan.

Whilst some residents received Fibre to the Premises during the early rollout, other areas are currently receiving the inferior Fibre to the Node service, and further still some areas are still waiting and are set to receive the NBN through HFC wiring.

“It is luck of the draw for residents of Sunnybank Hills with some residents receiving first-rate Fibre to the Premises and others being stuck with the copper based Fibre to the Node or hybrid cable known as HFC,” Shadow Communications Minister Michelle Rowland said.

“Malcolm Turnbull’s NBN mess is causing a digital divide, even within individual suburbs like Sunnybank Hills,” Ms Rowland said.

“I hear the frustration of local businesses and householders, who just want a fast and reliable internet connection, but are left waiting for a second-rate NBN and no guarantee it will deliver for their needs”, said Graham Perrett, Federal Member for Moreton.

“Local residents and businesses rely on accessing a fast and reliable internet connection.  Sadly, what these residents and businesses will get is Malcolm Turnbull’s second-rate NBN.”
