MEDIA RELEASE - ARMISTICE DAY CENTENARY GRANTS NOW OPEN - 1 DECEMBER 2017

01 December 2017

Federal Member for Greenway, Michelle Rowland MP, is encouraging local groups to apply for funding grants through the Armistice Centenary Grants Program.

Armistice Day is commemorated every year on November 11 to mark the end of hostilities between the Allied forces and Germany in the First World War in 1918.

Over 60,000 Australians were killed during the First World War, with over 156,000 wounded, gassed or imprisoned whilst in the line of duty.

The grants program is now open and will support projects and activities that commemorate the centenary of the end of the First World War.

“Eligible community groups across Greenway can receive up to $50,000 in grants to help commemorate the end of the First World War 100 years ago,” said Federal Member for Greenway, Michelle Rowland MP.

“Eligible groups, schools and RSL Clubs can apply for grants between $3,000 and $50,000. I encourage any local groups interested in commemorating this significant anniversary to submit an expression of interest to my office.

“Armistice Day is a very significant milestone in Australia’s history and it is fitting to support local groups to commemorate this anniversary,” said Ms Rowland.

Applications close on 28 February 2018. Further information about eligible groups and expressions of interest is available by contacting Michelle Rowland’s office on 9671 4780 or [email protected]
