MEDIA RELEASE - BREAKING: COMMUNITY WIN FOR COMMUTER PARKING AT SCHOFIELDS STATION! - 30 NOVEMBER 2018

30 November 2018

After five years of tireless campaigning across the community and thousands of signatures on petitions, the campaign for a multistorey car park at Schofields Station being run by Michelle Rowland MP, the Federal Member for Greenway, and Dr Annemarie Christie, Labor Candidate for Riverstone, has reached an important milestone.

Following the NSW Liberal Government’s initial refusal to come to the party and back in Labor’s announcement to fund the project, it finally looks like becoming a reality.

This announcement follows a speech in Federal Parliament last night by Michelle Rowland MP, which again called on the State Liberal Government to join Labor in a bipartisan commitment to the project.

Michelle Rowland MP has been campaigning on this issue for the past five years, through petitions, community campaigning, in Parliament and in the media to make the project a reality. Dr Annemarie Christie has also been campaigning strongly on the issue since her preselection last year.

“This victory proves that by listening to the community and having the determination to get results, we can change things for the better and improve the quality of life for local residents. That’s what it’s all about,” Federal Member for Greenway, Michelle Rowland said.

“Congratulations to everyone who has been involved over the past five years on this successful campaign.

“Credit must also go to The Rouse Hill Times, for their strong coverage of this important community campaign over the past five years.

“There is still much more work for us to do to address the serious infrastructure deficit in our community. But with your support, I will keep up the fight and keep delivering results.

“It goes to show how effective strong community representation can be, even from Opposition,” Ms Rowland said.
