MEDIA RELEASE - LOCAL SENIORS HAVE AN EARLY MERRY CHRISTMAS - 8 DECEMBER 2016

09 December 2016

Over 150 local seniors joined the Member for Greenway, Michelle Rowland MP, for a Christmas morning tea today at the Max Webber Library in Blacktown.

Attendees heard from Sharyn Wicks from the Blacktown District Historical Society who encouraged everyone to join with her fascinating insights into local history, and Marge and Ken Freeman from the Blacktown Seniors Choir ‘Simply Voices’ inspired some new recruits by singing a few songs.

Deborah Ferreira and Josie Dalli from the Eastbrooke Medical Centre spoke about the health services available in the local community, and Susan Heyne and Richard Parker from Easy-Go Connect ran through the variety of transport options available in the area.

The crowd also heard from Michele English at the Manager Trustee and Guardian’s Parramatta office about the sombre, but important topic of every person having their affairs in order no matter what stage of life they are at.

Patrician Brothers College Choir provided the entertainment and additional Christmas cheer by singing some beautiful carols.

“Thank you to everyone who attended. The morning tea is a really wonderful to celebrate Christmas with so many good friends,” Ms Rowland said.

“I hope everyone enjoyed a little early Christmas cheer, and that the rest of your holiday season is safe, happy and enjoyed with family and friends.”
