ROWLAND THROWS SUPPORT BEHIND ‘NASHOS’ MEMBERSHIP DRIVE

24 September 2013

Federal Member for Greenway, Michelle Rowland has thrown her support behind the Cumberland Sub-Branch of the National Servicemen’s Association’s recruitment drive, encouraging local National Servicemen from 1951 to 1972 to join their local Cumberland Sub-Branch.

Ms Rowland said the “Nashos” do a great job in representing and standing up for Australian National Servicemen.

“The Nashos work tirelessly to promote the health and welfare of National Servicemen and Servicewomen and represent their needs,” Ms Rowland said.

“The Cumberland Sub-Branch has a proud history in our local area and if there are any National Servicemen and Servicewomen who served Australia between 1951 and 1972 in our local community I would encourage them to get involved.”

The National Servicemen’s Association also work to record the history of National Service and its role in Australia’s defence effort; to provide a National Servicemen’s perspective on defence and community issues; to build and maintain Memorials to National Servicemen who died on active service and those who have died since; to participate in community, Armed Services and NSAA commemorations and parades; to promote educational programs about National Service in schools and in the community and to promote social interaction between National Servicemen and with the wider defence general communities.

The Cumberland Sub-Branch of the NSAA (NSW Inc.) meets at 7.30pm on the first Monday of each month at Blacktown RSL Club, Second Ave Blacktown.  For further details phone Secretary, Lyn Morris on 9686 9961.
