RETIREMENT OF TELSTRA CEO ANDY PENN
 

I note the announcement today that Andy Penn will retire as CEO of Telstra from September 1 2022.

It must be said that being CEO of Telstra is one of the toughest corporate roles in Australia, and comes with great responsibility and scrutiny.

I extend my thanks to Mr Penn for his engagement, and in particular the timely, comprehensive and professional briefings he provided during periods of natural disasters.

Andy has been a passionate advocate for the social and economic benefits of connectivity, and has made important contributions to innovation and cyber security.

I congratulate Ms Vicki Brady on being appointed by the Board as Mr Penn’s successor from 1 September 2022.
