MEDIA RELEASE - GREENWAY SENIORS MORNING TEA – IN CONVERSATION WITH SUSAN RYAN AO - 5 JUNE 2018

05 June 2018

Local seniors in Greenway are cordially invited to ‘In Conversation with Susan Ryan AO’, a seniors morning tea hosted by Michelle Rowland MP.

Susan Ryan made history to become the first female Cabinet Minister in the Hawke Government.

In 2010, Susan became the inaugural Australian Age Discrimination Commissioner, a position she served in for five years.

Susan will be discussing the many challenges facing older Australians and the importance of supporting services for seniors. She has a particularly strong interest in health and housing policy as they impact on seniors.

The morning tea will be held from 10-11am on Friday, 22 June 2018 at The Ponds Hub, 45 Riverbank Drive, The Ponds.

“I cordially invite all local seniors to a special morning tea with Susan Ryan AO,” Ms Rowland said.

“Susan is a passionate advocate for the rights of seniors, tackling ageism in all its forms, including work and barriers to inclusion. As Australians live longer, this is becoming an increasingly important issue.

“This is a great opportunity for local residents to hear from Australia’s inaugural Age Discrimination Commissioner first-hand. I look forward to joining local seniors for a cuppa, morning tea and a chat on the day,” Ms Rowland said.

This is a free event, but RSVP’s are essential as seating is strictly limited. Local residents can RSVP by calling Michelle Rowland’s office on 9671 4780 or email [email protected].
