MEDIA RELEASE - SAD TIME FOR BLACKTOWN AS RED LEA CHICKENS ENTERS VOLUNTARY ADMINISTRATION - 4 APRIL 2018

04 April 2018

It is a sad time for Blacktown and for the employees of Red Lea Chickens this week as the announcement was made that it has entered voluntary administration.

This is heartbreaking news for Red Lea Chickens employees, including over 500 workers who were employed at the Blacktown processing plant.

Red Lea Chickens has a rich history in Blacktown. The family business first began selling door to door fresh poultry in 1957. The closure of this plant will be a significant blow to the local economy.

It is incredibly upsetting for dedicated employees to see the company placed into voluntary administration. In this difficult time, it is crucial that employees receive in full the entitlements owed to them for their service.
